This treatment sounds a little unusual but is an effective treatment  for helping to clear out excess ear wax, ease sinus problems and help to equalise pressure in the head and ears.   If you think that it may benefit you or are slightly curious about this treatment then please read on.

Ear Candling is a more common name for it.  They are not candles as in wax candles, they are hollow tubes made out of cotton and linen and impregnated with beeswax and therapeutic oils.   These narrow candles are placed in the ear and the opposite end is lit.  This creates warm air that travels into the ear canal and then starts to gently draw excess wax and impurities up into the candle, like a chimney effect.

Thermal auricular therapy is generally a very safe procedure but it should not be used if you have grommets, ear tubes, perforated ear drums, have had recent surgery on your ears, are allergic to any of the ingredients  or if you have any sort of inflammation or infection present.   A consultation is carried out before your first treatment to establish if this treatment is suitable for your, but if you are unsure about any condition that may be effecting your ears please consult your G.P.  beforehand.
